Common Core State Standards Resources
The ESOL Department designed this template to be used to scaffold a Close Read for English learners.  English learners (depending on level) may have specific needs when reading text.  This scaffold provides suggestions for how to engage English learners in grade-level and challenging text while providing them with scaffolds needed for comprehension of these texts.  Also, suggested strategies are included for planning purposes.

Learning Progressions are provided in order for teachers to see how content standards from lower grades build upon each other.  Teachers can also see how grades above extend grade level content.
